Community Engagement

In 2014, Chef Ben Bebenroth moved his family of four to Spring Hill Farm (now Spice Acres). His vision? Forge a deeper bond between chefs and seasons, linking the culinary team at Spice Catering Co. directly to the farm’s evolving harvest. Connect the community to the source of its food through a carefully selected, unique variety of crops, and open the farm to guests seeking meaningful learning experiences around local, nutrient-dense food.

Spice Acres has become an experience-based entity, affording guests the opportunity to get their hands dirty and learn the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of sustainable agriculture – or simply to celebrate life’s simple joys surrounded by the natural beauty of Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Join us to discover, dine, and dig in to our region’s bounty. Take a look at our upcoming events, and see how Spice Field Kitchen is cultivating agricultural + culinary connections through field-based education.

 What’s Growing

Our philosophy of being responsive to nature and working with our soil {very sandy!} and our water resources {very limited!} means that perennial and forest-farmed crops are a more sustainable focus for our farm than resource-intensive annual crops. Mushrooms, flowers, berries and veggies grow in our fields and become inspired menu items at the hands of our chefs, and comprise colorful material for immersive learning experiences.
